Lucas and Thayná are two of the most dynamic and inspiring artists in the Brazilian Zouk world—and the 2024 Original Division World Champions.
Their partnership brings together a wealth of experience, diverse training, and an unshakable passion for dance. Both are widely recognized not only for their technical precision and musicality but also for the creativity and energy they bring to every performance and class.
Lucas began his dance journey at 14, exploring a wide range of Brazilian ballroom styles, including zouk, samba, forró, and bolero, while also training in ballet, jazz, and street dance. By 16, he was already teaching Brazilian rhythms in Brazil, and by 18, his international teaching career took off. He has since taught and performed in over 20 countries at top dance congresses such as Brisbane Zouk Festival, Dutch Zouk Congress, Warsaw Zouk Festival, and Latin Culture Week in São Paulo. His time spent living and teaching in Austria, Russia, and beyond has helped him contribute directly to the global growth of Brazilian Zouk.
Thayná’s journey started at just 4 years old through a ballet social project in Rio de Janeiro. Her early training included classical and contemporary ballet, circus acrobatics, and Olympic gymnastics. She discovered Brazilian Zouk at 14 and went on to train in samba and other partner dances at renowned schools like Renata Peçanha and Jimmy de Oliveira. Thayná has also earned top placements in contemporary and freestyle competitions and has taught and performed internationally across more than 26 countries. She is the visionary behind events like Lisbon Zouk Weekender, Ladies First, Zouk Lab, and the Zouk Followers Course, helping to uplift and shape communities around the world.
Together, Lucas and Thayná are not only incredible performers and educators—they are passionate ambassadors for Brazilian Zouk. As Original Division World Champions, their artistry, dedication, and powerful presence continue to inspire dancers across the globe.
