Alex de Carvalho is one of the most influential figures in the global Brazilian Zouk scene. With over 25 years of experience as a professional dancer, teacher, and choreographer, Alex has played a foundational role in shaping and spreading Brazilian Zouk around the world.
Originally from Brazil, Alex began his dance journey in Rio de Janeiro, where he studied and mastered multiple Brazilian dance styles, including samba, forró, bolero, and lambada. It was through this rich foundation that his passion for Zouk evolved, leading him to become one of the genre’s most recognized ambassadors.
Alex is renowned for his technical precision, musicality, and innovative teaching style, which combines deep understanding of biomechanics with artistic expression. He has trained thousands of dancers and teachers across more than 40 countries and is often invited to judge the most prestigious Brazilian Zouk competitions worldwide.
Beyond the stage, Alex has developed teacher training programs, helped create international Zouk curriculums, and continues to be a key leader in the professionalization of the dance.
